Ah, the unavoidable pun. Everyone who likes to stand on the board will ask you, wazSUP?? However, at WazSUP in downtown Van, what is actually up is great a mood and positive energy that spreads like crazy. WazSUP is known for its super productive team building activities and social events—so think of them next time you want to see your boss in a wetsuit or want to shake up your best friend’s bachelor party. They operate our of David Lam Park and Sunset Beach and offer semi-private and group lessons starting at $90.

If you’re on a mission to make this summer the best one yet, head down to Third Beach in Stanley Park and check out the SUP classes at Stand Up Paddle Vancouver. They offer basic SUP classes for beginners starting at $75, and SUP yoga workshops at the same price. They also offer a class called the Sunrise/Sunset Social—a one-hour, fully guided paddle under the bright colors of a Vancouver sunset.

SUP is popular because it’s calming, super fun, and gets you out on the water on a beautiful day, but it’s also a great exercise for your upper arms, core, and lower back. At Windsure at Jericho Beach you can sign up for beginner group lesson for just $40 and learn how to get most out of your SUP practice. Not only you will have fun, chill, and unwind, you’ll also get ripped. The staff here will teach you about safety before encouraging you to push just a little bit harder and get a SUPer body.
